After more than two years, Vodacom’s Virtual Hosting continues to be an attractive offer on the South African market. To drive its competitive advantage and increase market appeal, Vodacom teamed up with NIL to add new features to the product.

The implementation of NIL Monitor gives Vodacom customers detailed insight into their virtual environment status through a web-based portal, as well as generating reports on their environment’s activity. NIL Monitor also offers some functionalities that expand internal monitoring and reporting.

NIL Monitor was deployed into Vodacom’s infrastructure between March and September 2011. After almost a year of usage, Vodacom has recognized several additional benefits of the solution. Among them are additional revenue streams, full inventory management of back-end infrastructure and more efficient use of assets. Vodacom also prizes NIL’s prompt development of new functionalities.

At the January 2012 ceremony in London, Vodacom’s / NIL’s Office in the Cloud solution, developed and based on NIL’s Flip IT product, was awarded the title “Most Innovative Data Centre, Cloud and Virtualisation Project of the Year.” The award was presented to Vodacom and NIL by Carlos Dominguez (Cisco Senior Vice President, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer), who described the award as “probably the most important of the evening.”
